Welcome! If you're interested in what we can learn from cemeteries, you've come to the right place.
My name is Adam Montgomery. I'm a PhD historian who loves to explore, document, photograph, and share the history of Canadian cemeteries. Our municipal, regional, and national histories are written in these places; they are invaluable resources for understanding our past in all its guises. By learning about cemeteries we learn about ourselves, our communities, and our shared history, as well as changing morals, values, traditions, and beliefs. Perhaps most importantly, cemeteries allow us to tell the often unknown stories of "common" people from all backgrounds. My aim is to raise awareness of how important these sites are, and to help uncover the stories contained within them. You can find my cemetery activities and posts on Twitter through @CaCemeteryHist. Best, Adam |
